Graphic designers combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of websites and printed pages. Working with both text and images, they use a variety of design elements to achieve artistic or decorative effects with a keen ability to determine the best ways to present layouts. The Graphics Designer is expected to collaborate closely with writers and technical personnel to determine the most feasible ways to communicate through the use of graphics and diagrams to make complex ideas more accessible.  This candidate is creative and artistic and demonstrates analytic, communications, and time-management skills.


  • Provide timely updates of website content
  • Translate ideas and concepts into professional, web-based products
  • Ensure viable upload/download of website reports, documents, and publications
  • Share institutional knowledge and experience to facilitate effective and efficient service
  • Ensure website design complies with Agency and DoD standards
  • Demonstrate strong graphic design skills to improve design aspects of the website
  • Employ industry best practices and design principles that generate innovative and aesthetically pleasing graphics
  • Improve formatting as recommended through user feedback
  • Produce a user-friendly, well organized, and modernized website appearance
  • Develop automated web based tools as required
  • Manage information content for clarity, continuity, and consistency among pages/sites
  • Coordinate with other agency offices and manage best-practice content modifications
  • Maintain website records (e.g., history, authors, contributors, revision dates, etc.).
  • Develop a website maintenance plan to promote accuracy and relevancy at all times
  • Demonstrate technical fluency to generate databases, programs, and designs for NGA systems; including SharePoint design ideas, content organization, and special projects
  • Prove ability to prioritize and manage projects
  • Demonstrate an ability to multitask, prioritize, and effectively interact among people
  • Demonstrate excellent writing & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to convert existing intranet and internet applications into a Microsoft SharePoint environment, while maintaining the equivalent functionality for both the user level and management for reports and metrics development


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in the related field (at least 7 years of experience in Graphics Designer/Visualization Specialist field)
  • Demonstrated experience updating and maintaining websites with relevant, accurate and timely information in the IC, NGA, DoD or Federal government environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working on Windows platforms and using Adobe Creative Suite software and SharePoint
